Cedar Rust

We have received photographic evidence in our Plant Clinic email this week to show that the cedar rust galls are producing their telial spore horns and producing spores. I went to my back window to check my neighbor’s poor juniper. On Tuesday morning, I could not see any spore horns, but by Wednesday noon, I did not need the binoculars to confirm the horns are expanded. They are fully expanded due to the rain this week. All three cedar rusts (cedar-apple, cedar hawthorn and cedar quince) are active now. If you have not started protective sprays on the deciduous host, it time to get going!

Landscape Pro Potting Soil

Potting Soil

For planters and beds

Designed with landscapers in mind. This soil is great for all container sizes - such as mixed planters or specimen annuals, perennials, hanging baskets, mums and large patio planters.

Coarse southern pine bark is utilized in the blend to provide long term structural stability as the larger particle sizes are more resistant to degradation over time due to smaller relative surface area. This pine also provides adequate porosity to the blend, eliminating the need for aggregates such as perlite. Mix is pH buffered with a combination of dolomitic and high calcium lime to ensure proper Ca/Mg balance in the substrate. Starter charge provides up to 2 weeks of crop support. Blue chip (38-0-0) is included to stabilize the organic matter in blends to prevent any nitrogen immobilization. The Landscaper’s Pro: All Purpose Potting Soil is manufactured at optimum moisture content of 45 to 55 percent.

Landscaper’s Pro All Purpose Potting Soil contains: 1/2” and 3/8” Southern Pine Bark Fines, Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss, Coconut Coir, Starter Charge & Blue Chip, Phosphorous, Mycorrhizae, Lime and Wetting Agent.

He created Zoomers to Boomers, a website where seniors in the Santa Barbara area can sign up to have their groceries delivered the next day by a high school student.
